Isle of Man Social Services Go Live

The Isle of Man Government has successfully gone live with a RiO mental health and social care services system deployed by CSE Healthcare Systems in partnership with System C Healthcare.

The project is part of a three-phase framework contract awarded to System C three years ago by the Department of Health and Social Security to provide an island-wide integrated healthcare IT system.  Under this contract, System C has already installed its Medway PAS and successfully deployed departmental systems including maternity, and A&E. The PROTOCOL integrated children’s system from Liquidlogic, part of the System C group of companies, is due to go live in December.

The DHSS said that the ability to monitor, re-evaluate and improve the quality of care given to clients was paramount in the choice of a new electronic record system for social care and mental health services.

RiO not only met the needs of the clients and services involved, but also won favour with users in the service departments, who were facing a difficult transition from the legacy system and the use of paper documentation to a total electronic record system.

Andrew Swithinbank, director of social services, said he was pleased with the smooth deployment of the system and was delighted that the system was “simple and easy to use.”

Stuart Lees, Programme Manager at System C for the Isle of Man project, said, “The deployment of the departmental care record system marks a further step in moving the Crown Dependency closer towards its goal of creating an island-wide shared health and social record. I am delighted it has gone so smoothly.”
